White Water Rafting in The Smoky Mountains

Plan a wet and wild white water rafting adventure on your next trip to The Smokies! The rafting season begins the first week of March and lasts through October. It takes place on the Pigeon River. The two diverse areas of the Pigeon River, Upper and Lower, offer two different rapid levels. The Upper Pigeon River has Class III-IV turbulent rapids for children 8 and over and more experienced rafters. The Lower Pigeon River has gentler rapids for younger children and non-swimmers. No experience is necessary, and experienced guides will safely navigate you through any rough water. There are a few different companies in the area that book and operate rafting trips; they provide you with all the safety equipment and instruction you’ll need for your family to enjoy an adventurous day on the river.

Smoky Mountain Outdoors

Smoky Mountain Outdoors provides rafting options along both the Upper Pigeon River and Lower Pigeon River. The Upper Pigeon River is a two hour tour with intense, fast moving rapids where you’ll raft with an expert guide. It is suited for those with children 8 and over and is the longest trip on the Pigeon River! The Lower Pigeon River has gentler waters for families with children 3 and over. Whichever trip you choose, you're guaranteed a great time.
