Every year, the Smoky Mountains have new changes coming, and 2023 is gearing up for several thrilling additions! From an exciting roller coaster to a unique digital experience, you’ll see a little bit of everything opening in town, and we want to share some of them with you! Check out these 6 new attractions in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville that are coming in 2023:
1. Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood

Dollywood is back at it again by adding another thrilling roller coaster to their line up! They’re proudly letting every potential guest know that Big Bear Mountain is the longest roller coaster at their theme park. Visitors will head out on the search for Big Bear with Ned Oakley through on-ride audio, themed music, and announcements. The ride will last for nearly 2 minutes along 3,990 feet of track in the Wildwood Grove area, and it will be perfect for people of all ages! The roller coaster is slated to be unveiled at the spring opening of Dollywood.
2. The Sky Pirates of Mermaid Bay
If your Smoky Mountain vacation isn’t complete without a game of mini golf, then you’ll be happy to know a new attraction in Pigeon Forge that should open summer 2023 is The Sky Pirates of Mermaid Bay! This immersive mini golf course will have an indoor 18-hole course and an 18-hole rooftop outdoor course too. Kids and adults will love the pirates and mermaid theme all throughout this attraction!
3. Iron Forge Brewing Co.
Another attraction in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville you won’t want to miss out on is Iron Forge Brewing Co. And it’s not just another distillery like you’ve seen before! This brewery will have all of their equipment on site, so you can learn how they make their delicious offerings. They’ll also have an outdoor biergarten with a patio, an indoor tasting room, river and mountain views, and much more!
4. Buc-ee’s
Everyone is patiently waiting for Buc-ee’s in Sevierville to open! Although this is a convenience store company, it’s almost like it’s a Sevierville attraction in its own right! The massive gas station will have 120 pumps and the cleanest bathrooms you’ve ever seen. Customers can browse through themed merchandise, home decor, on-the-go snacks, and more. And if you find yourself hungrier for more than snacks, grab one of the read-to-eat tacos, brisket sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, or pastries! Buc-ee’s is projected to open in May 2023.
5. Xperia: Ocean Journey
We bet you’ve never experienced anything like Xperia: Ocean Journey before! You’ll want to add this new Sevierville attraction to your bucket list. Guests will be immersed in a digital cinematic experience where you can see incredible marine life in 3D. As you walk around the curved dome, you’ll come face to face with sharks, whales, and other sea creatures. Xperia is set to open in late spring of 2023.
6. Dig ‘N Zone Theme Park
The whole family will want to experience this new attraction in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville! Dig ‘N Zone is a unique theme park centered around real construction equipment you get to use! Kids, teens, and adults will have the chance to ride, drive, and operate excavators, skid-steers, fork lifts, and much more. Dig ‘N Zone is set to open in spring 2023.
