What to Expect
The Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster will be the first racing mountain coaster in the United States when it opens this spring! It is designed for competitive fun as the tracks are located side by side, allowing you to compete head-to-head against a friend or family member! The ride features interactive features to add to the fun, including leader boards, finish-line photos, and timed races. You can even get a photo of your moment of victory as soon as you cross the finish line! Whether you are a thrill seeker, competitive rider, or just looking for some high-speed fun, you’ll love this newest addition to the Smoky Mountain area!
Operating the Coaster
Smoky Mountain coasters are similar to theme park roller coasters, where the coaster carts are securely attached to steel rails, but in this case, you get to control the speed of your own ride down the mountain! Each of the carts can accommodate up to 2 riders, and a simple brake lever allows you to set the pace - go slower for a leisurely ride down the mountain or go full throttle to beat your competitor to the finish line! The Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster can reach speeds up to 30 miles per hour, which is much faster than it sounds when you’re just mere inches from the ground!
Ride Restrictions
The Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster has a few ride restrictions in place to keep in mind when planning your visit. You have to be at least 3 years old (and 38 inches tall) to ride the coaster as a passenger, and the person driving the cart has to be at least 16 years old to ride with a passenger or 56" tall to ride alone (there is no age requirement to ride alone as long as the height requirement is met). Note that the maximum weight can not exceed 375 pounds in dry conditions and 330 pounds in wet conditions.
Safety Features
Guest safety is the highest priority at the Pigeon Forge Racing Coaster, and the ride features state-of-the-art safety controls to ensure a smooth and exciting ride! You can even ride in the rain as the coaster carts are equipped with rain shields to help keep you dry! Staff perform a daily inspection of the safety devices along the track before opening it for the day, a mechanical department performs weekly and monthly inspections, and an annual inspection is performed by the manufacturer!
