Top 5 Things to Do on Your Honeymoon in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

Tennessee’ Great Smoky Mountains are one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the United States. Millions of newlyweds visit the cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge each year in order to enjoy the area’s spectacular natural beauty and awesome attractions. To help you make the most of your first vacation as a married couple, Aunt Bug’s Cabin Rentals has put together a guide to the top five things to do on your honeymoon in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

1. Get Your Picture Made at Wild Gals Old Time Photo

An old time photo is the perfect souvenir from your honeymoon in the Smokies! When you visit Wild Gals Old Time Photo, you’ll pose for a professional portrait with your choice of period costumes. Couples can dress up as a Southern Gentleman and Southern Belle, a Gangster and a Flapper Girl, a Cowboy and a Saloon Gal, or a couple of Hillbillies. No matter which personas you pick, you’ll have a blast getting your picture made and you will leave with a keepsake that you’ll treasure forever.

Ice skating at Ober Gatlinburg is another one of the most romantic things you can do on your honeymoon in Gatlinburg. Ober is home to an indoor year-round skating rink where newlyweds can hold hands and glide across the ice. If you’re looking for a fun and convenient way to get to Ober, consider taking the Aerial Tramway to the resort. This 2.1-mile cable car ride leaves from downtown Gatlinburg and offers breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains as it makes its way to Ober.

3. Enjoy a Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride Through Cades Cove

Attracting over 2 million people each year, Cades Cove is the most visited section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A scenic carriage ride with Cades Cove Riding Stables is one of our favorite ways to admire all of the stunning natural beauty in this breathtaking valley. These romantic carriage rides last around 30 – 45 minutes and feature a knowledgeable driver who will share fascinating information about the cove’s history, plants, and wildlife.

4. Take the Rocky Top Wine Trail

The Rocky Top Wine Trail is a can’t-miss activity for couples who enjoy a nice glass of wine now and then. The Wine Trail consists of five Smoky Mountain wineries where you can stop in and enjoy a free tasting. No reservations are required and the wineries can be visited in any order. Be sure to get your Rocky Top Wine Trail Passport stamped at each location, because folks who visit multiple wineries get free gifts as they complete the trail!

5. Ride the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel

Located at The Island in Pigeon Forge, the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is 200-foot tall Ferris wheel that offers breathtaking views of the city and the mountains. Couples will love snuggling in their enclosed glass gondola as they admire the stunning vistas. For a very romantic experience, we recommend riding the wheel at night when both the city and the Ferris wheel are lit up.
