Q & A

-How is the drive to this cabin?
The drive to this cabin is steep and windy in some places. No 4 wheel drive necessary except during winter weather.

-How close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is this cabin?
This cabin is 5.2 miles from the parkway of Pigeon Forge.

-How many vehicles will fit in the driveway?
We recommend bringing no more than 2 vehicles, of any size.

-Do I need to bring extra toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels, soap, etc?
YES… We provide 1 roll of toilet paper per restroom, one trash bag per trash can, 1 roll of paper towels in the kitchen. You are responsible for bringing your own extras. In this cabin, we also provide 8 towels and 8 wash clothes, 2 hand towels and dishwasher detergent. We do not provide shampoo, conditioner, lotions, laundry detergent, coffee or coffee filters, salt and pepper, charcoal for grills, daily maid service or flashlights/candles/matches (too often these items were taken home by guests so we stopped providing them).

-Is this cabin dog friendly?
Yes, but we charge $75.00 per pet per stay and we limit it to 2 dogs under 40 lbs.

-Can I use the fireplace year round?
No. Local fire codes restrict the use of fireplaces April through September and we take this very seriously.

-Will I encounter wildlife?
Possibly. Black bears are attracted to food, so DO NOT leave food in your vehicles or unaccompanied food on decks and porches and grills. If you want to go outside and there is a bear outside, make loud noises they will leave. If you pull up to your cabin and there is a bear in the yard, blow the horn. They will leave.
And remember, you are surrounded by flourishing nature and a national wildlife reserve, so it’s not unusual for small animals to be heard around the house or bugs to get into your cabin. We do a very good job of spotting and cleaning bugs before your arrival, but we cannot guarantee they won’t return, just as you can’t prevent 100% of bugs from entering your own home. Please be respectful of the fact that we don’t have total control over nature. Just call us, and we will send up wildlife management people or pest control to get rid of any small animals or bugs for you.

-Will the hot tub be clean for my arrival?
Absolutely. Every hot tub is emptied, cleaned and refilled between stays. In fact the water may still need time to heat up on the day of your arrival. Just keep the cover on the hot tub and turn on the jets, as this will heat the hot tub quicker. To keep your hot tub clean for the length of your stay, keep the cover on the hot tub when not using it and rinse off your skin in the shower before entering the hot tub. Unwashed skin will dirty a hot tub quickly, and we only drain & clean the hot tubs after check-out. If there is sediment in your hot tub upon check-in, it is because your cabin’s water comes from a well.

Overall our stay was good. There were lots of little things that could use some working on. The middle light bulb in the kitchen, dining room, and outside the main door were all different than the rest in the cabin and they blinked on and off, so we loosened them to get them to stop. The front left burner on the stove when turned on low is actually the high setting, same with the oven. Many lights switches that do nothing? The living room could use the blackout curtains so a person can actually see the TV screen during daylight hours. Nex5, there is a very nice pool table, with 2 very short cue sticks. Some people are tall with longer arms, so it could use some longer cue sticks. One cue stick is very warped on the end, and the over needs the tip replaced but it is glued on fast, plus there was no chalk. You may want to address that issue. Then, to our dismay we ran out of propane the night we decided to grill steaks when they were about 2/3rds done. Good thing my hubby knows how to cook a great steak, no matter if its on a grill, in a skillet, or in an oven. We did call to get it replaced 2 days later when we planned to grill pork chops. We then felt really bad because it turns out our tank was actually still full and it was a wasted trip. We are from Iowa, and we don't have timers on our propane tanks. You just turn the knob and the amount of fuel you use is regulated by your knobs on the stove itself. So you might want to incorporate instructions for the grill about the use of the timer knob on the propane tanks. Otherwise, our time there was great despite several days of foggy/rainy weather. We also took our pet on lots of walks, and we got to see some pretty spectacular views from our cabin at different levels, in different settings whether it was due to the weather, or time of day. It made it a perfect time tobuse the hot tub. It felt very relaxing in the hot tub. We then ended up buying a new long cue stick and chalk, and got to play lots of pool. The best part of it all was seeing almost no traffic and only hearing the occasional loud vehicle that would drive by our cabin. Most we didnt even hear. It was actually cool to watch a vehicle come up the switchback at night and try to figure out where they were going all while sitting in the hot tub. Our cabin was fairly clean but the main bedspread on the first floor appeared in need of a wash because we know we didnt spill anything on it. Lucky for us, there was an extra blanket in the wardrobe dresser that appeared clean. Plus, the bed was pretty comfortable. To us, these were minor issues to the overall stay, but we were not going to call everytime we found an issue or something we thought could make our stay better. It's stuff that should be addressed when customers are not staying there. The one time we did need them, we can say that they came in a very timely manner and were quite polite and nice about our mistake with the propane tank. That goes along ways with us as we felt bad about wasting their time and fuel to come change it. Lastly, we really did pick the most perfect time of year to come. All the flowering trees were in full bloom and the trees were almost all leafed out. A real nice change from back home after a long winter. We loved our choice of a cabin because we only had one flight of stairs to deal with. It was big enough and yet very cozy. It was perfect! It had the best views! It had a great area to park. The cabin looked very well maintained inside and out. There were a couple places where the floor had been repaired but it was done very professionally. Lastly, the kitchen sink faucet had a drip problem. It has to be basically perfectly lined up to get it to stop. It was great having a washer/dryer to do our laundry. Also, they should maybe invest in hot pads for the kitchen, and coasters for the living room tables. The two yellow uneven trivet ones were not all that great. So, other than the little things listed, it was definitely well worth the trip to stay here and we would recommend it to anyone.
